In 2011, we're adding a 10th coaster to our already amazing arsenal of thrill rides. The new ride will be located in the DC Super Hero Adventures section and will offer an all new coaster adventure to delight thrill seekers of every age.

The experience begins when you board the four-person coaster cars and start a 5-story climb towards the sky. Once you reach the top of the lift hill, your world is sent spinning and twirling through a maze of 17 hairpin turns, winding twists and turns and unexpected dips while careening along 1,213 feet
of track.

Cedar Point has announced that it will introduce WindSeeker, a 30-story-tall swing ride to the Sandusky, Ohio, amusement park/resort for next summer. WindSeeker will tower above everything around its location on the beach, rising almost as high as the Millennium Force roller coaster’s giant first hill.

In the early 1900s, the Cedar Point Beach was a hub of activity as families played in the sand or frolicked in the lake. One of its most popular attractions was the Sea Swings that would dip riders into the cool waters of Lake Erie as it spun in a circular motion.

Now 100 years later, Cedar Point will add a 21st century version of that thrilling ride to the park for next summer.

Carowinds Introduces Million Dollar Light Show and Expanded Hours in 2011

New nighttime spectacular utilizes light, sound and motion to create a full sensory experience

The skyline of Carowinds will light up next summer as the amusement park announces plans to debut Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular, a million dollar nighttime walk-through light and sound experience featuring Snoopy and the PEANUTS™ gang, in the Summer of 2011.

Designed using a diverse mixture of low energy and high efficiency LED lighting, this immersive light and sound spectacular will stretch from County Fair through the entrance of Planet Snoopy and feature more than one and a half million LED lights adorned from trees and buildings. Midways will be accented by vibrant animated and stationary light displays, vivid theatrical lighting and other cutting edge special effects, all orchestrated to a custom designed audio soundtrack.

To showcase Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular, Carowinds will extend its operating hours until 10PM every day from June 27 through August 7, 2011. This expansion will offer guests more evening hours of fun to experience everything Carowinds has to offer. Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular will come to life each evening during these 10PM closes.

WindSeeker to debut at Kings Island in 2011 301-foot-tall swing ride to send adventure seekers soaring If you think riding Drop Tower at Kings Island is a thrill (and it is – riders enjoy a breathtaking view of the region as they ascend toward the sky, then take a 26-story freefall at 64 mph), wait until next year!

Kings Island will continue to change the landscape for thrill seekers in 2011 with WindSeeker, a 301-foot-tall tower that will spin riders 30 stories above the park. Seated in two-person swings that will allow their feet to dangle, riders will slowly begin rotating in a circular motion as the swings ascend the tower. At the top, the swings will reach speeds up to 30 mph, flaring out 45 degrees from the tower. WindSeeker will accommodate 64 riders (32 swings) per ride cycle.

"The addition of WindSeeker reflects our commitment to providing our guests with world-class thrills, fun and fantastic family entertainment," Kings Island vice-president and general manager Greg Scheid said. "Soaring 300 feet above Kings Island will provide an exciting ride experience for our guests."

WindSeeker will be located in the Coney Mall section of the park near the Vortex ride exit.

The $5 million ride is manufactured by Mondial (pronounced mohn-DEE-ahl), a 23-year-old Dutch-based company. Riders must be at least 48 inches tall to ride and will be secured with individual over-the-head lap bars with interlocking seat belts.

WindSeeker will make its debut when Kings Island opens for the 2011 season in the spring.

Canada’s Wonderland takes excitement to new heights in 2011, with the addition of WindSeeker – a 30-storey swing ride.

Towering high above the Park, WindSeeker will ascend 301 feet (91.7M) and spread its metal arms, swinging riders at a 45-degree angle at speeds up to 50 kilometers per hour. WindSeeker will feature 32 two-person swings that will provide riders with a sensational feeling of weightlessness as their feet dangle at heights never experienced before at Wonderland.

“We are continuing to change the landscape at Canada’s Wonderland and with the addition of our new thrill machine WindSeeker, we will be 70 feet (21.3M) higher than our previous tallest rides Drop Tower and Behemoth”, said Raffi Kaprelyan, Vice President and General Manager of Canada’s Wonderland. “For riders that are looking for extreme height and intense thrills, this ride will be a must-do for 2011”.

WindSeeker will be the 68th ride at Canada’s Wonderland, giving the park one of the greatest selections of rides in North America. Construction will begin in the fall of 2010.

WindSeeker will be designed and manufactured by Mondial, a company based in the Netherlands that has been creating thrill rides for the amusement park industry since 1987. Mondial is known for their innovative and unique rides and maintains the highest standards in regards to quality and safety.

WindSeeker will feature 32, 2-person gondolas that will ascend to a height of 301 feet. Once it has reached the top of the tower, WindSeeker will spread it’s metal arms swinging riders for a 60 second flight at a 45 degree angle at a speed of 8 rotations per minute.

“Due to the long airtime, riders will experience a spectacular sense of weightlessness. This, combined with the fact that riders legs will be unrestrained, will create a sense of exhilaration which will enhance the feeling of free flight,” said Knott’s General Manager, Marty Keithley.

WindSeeker will be located at the current site of Knott’s Sky Cabin. Groundbreaking for WindSeeker is scheduled for fall of 2010 with completion expected by summer 2011.

SNOOPY CELEBRATES 60th ANNIVERSARY
WITH $8 MILLION PRESENT FROM DORNEY
DORNEY PARK, Allentown, PA (August 8, 2010) – Hundreds of kids and their families turned Camp Snoopy at Dorney Park into a festive arena as they helped celebrate the 60th anniversary of Snoopy and the rest of the gang. The festivities were topped off when Dorney Park presented America's favorite beagle with a seven-foot-tall gift box with an $8 million present inside: plans for the Planet SNOOPY kids' theme-park slated to open at Dorney Park in Spring 2011.

Planet SNOOPY is an $8 million concept that will become reality for next Spring. The project will transform the existing Camp Snoopy into a self-contained theme park for kids. The new Planet SNOOPY will encompass nearly three and one-half acres of land centrally located in Dorney Park and is set to feature the largest collections of kids' amusement rides on the East Coast.

One of the gifts presented to Snoopy on Sunday was an aerial rendering of Planet SNOOPY. The illustration shows how seven new rides, an all new PEANUTS™ Showplace amphitheatre, a Snoopy Boutique souvenir store, and a Soda Pop Shop featuring Root Beer Floats combine with nine existing re-themed rides to make an out-of-this-world, kid-fun and family-friendly immersive experience.

The headlining attractions of Planet SNOOPY will be the new 40-foot-tall Flying Ace Balloon Race, the Linus Launcher ride where riders lay face down for their soaring trip, and Snoopy's Sky Ride, an aerial monorail with themed passenger cars. Each of the rides in the Planet SNOOPY universe is designed for kids and parents to be able to ride together. The Planet SNOOPY kids' park will also feature a new family care facility where parents can tend to the needs of infants and toddlers. The facility will be staffed and fully equipped with changing stations, feeding rooms, and play and nap areas.

In recognition of the special position Snoopy and the PEANUTS™ gang hold in America's heart, Planet SNOOPY will also feature extensive scheduled interaction between the kids and Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and others of the PEANUTS™ gang. The schedule includes shows in the PEANUTS™ Showplace amphitheatre as well daily meet and greet sessions.

Dorney Park plans to break ground on the project at the end of the upcoming 2010 Halloween HAUNT season. When Planet SNOOPY opens in spring of 2011, admission will be included with any Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom 2011 Season Pass or Admission Ticket. Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom now offers three great Parks for one low price! The addition of the new attractions brings the Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom experience to an incredible fifty-seven rides while Wildwater Kingdom has an additional two-dozen including two-giant wave pools, two lazy rivers, and an astounding twenty-two water slides.

Families can save even more by purchasing their Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom 2011 Season Passes when they go on-sale at the Park Season Pass Office on Saturday, September 4th. Costing an estimated $9 million, construction for Planet Snoopy will begin immediately after the end of the regular season (after Labor Day) and is currently scheduled to be completed for the start of the 2011 season. Planet Snoopy construction will in no way impede or diminish the Halloween Haunt beginning September 18th and running through October 31st.

It is a very exciting time for all of us at Valleyfair and we believe Planet Snoopy will provide our guests with fun the whole family can enjoy. Current plans for Planet Snoopy indicate 7 rides will be re-themed and 6 new rides will be introduced along with one additional attraction. Planet Snoopy will also include a brand new Family Care Center. The midways of Planet Snoopy will be re-done with pavers, as was done for other sections of Valleyfair prior to the 2010 season.

To help prepare you for the grand opening of Planet Snoopy in 2011, Valleyfair is now offering a Super Pass which is valid for the rest of the 2010 season and all of the 2011 season.
