There's no need to travel to Hogsmeade -- or to "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" at Universal Orlando -- to get a taste of butterbeer. The drink is one of the features of the new Harry Potter attraction at Universal's Islands of Adventure, and now the recipe for the beverage is available to all.
The 20-acre park brings the Harry Potter books and movies to life with detailed reproductions of the fictitious village of Hogsmeade, the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the steam-belching Hogwarts Express train.
"The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" officially opened in mid-June, and Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Bonnie Wright and Tom Felton -- Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Ginny Weasley and Draco Malfoy, respectively -- were on hand, along with other stars of the Harry Potter film franchise. Hundreds of media members from all over the world were also on hand to cover the opening of the attraction that has been five years in the making.
With the heat index nearing 100 by Friday afternoon, many rushed immediately for an ice cold butterbeer, a staple beverage from the books which until now was offered exclusively at the Wizarding World.
Here's the recipe for the formerly fictional drink made famous by the young wizard, Harry Potter.
BUTTERBEER
Start to finish: 1 hour (10 minutes active)
Servings: 4
•1 cup light or dark brown sugar
•2 tablespoons water
•6 tablespoon butter
•1/2 teaspoon salt
•1/2 teaspoon cider vinegar
•3/4 cup heavy cream, divided
•1/2 teaspoon rum extract
•Four 12-ounce bottles cream soda
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar and water. Bring to a gentle boil and cook, stirring often, until the mixture reads 240 F on a candy thermometer. Stir in the butter, salt, vinegar and 1/4 cup heavy cream. Set aside to cool to room temperature. Once the mixture has cooled, stir in the rum extract.
In a medium bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of the brown sugar mixture and the remaining 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Use an electric mixer to beat until just thickened, but not completely whipped, about 2 to 3 minutes.
To serve, divide the brown sugar mixture between 4 tall glasses (about 1/4 cup for each glass). Add 1/4 cup of cream soda to each glass, then stir to combine. Fill each glass nearly to the top with additional cream soda, then spoon the whipped topping over each.
Homemade Butterbeer Recipe
Brian and myself have been craving that Butterbeer we had while at the Wizarding World, so we've been tweaking a homemade recipe for the past 2 days and finally perfected it. Here ya go.
Regular Homemade Butterbeer Recipe
1 Bottle IBC Cream Soda (tastes exactly like the regular Butterbeer base)
Foam (makes enough for two servings of Butterbeer):
1/3 Cup Heavy Cream
2 Tablespoons Sugar
1 Tablespoon Powdered Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
Whip to desired consistency.
Pour Cream Soda into Butterbeer Stein or Beer Pilsner.
Layer foam on top with spoon, let rest for 10-20 seconds for the soda to carbonate the foam.
Voila, Butterbeer that tastes like you got it from Hogsmeade.

They are not the OFFICIAL ones, but damn close in taste... universal wont ever release the official version (partly cause they would have t convert it from the mass produced to single servings... and partly cause then people would have one less reason to visit the Wizarding World)
I make a diet version of Butterbeer at home by mixing Diet A&W Cream Soda with Davinci sugar-free butterscotch syrup.
I just now learned that the ClickOrlando recipe isn't the real ButterBeer. Figures.
And it kinda makes since because with the demaind high for Butterbeer in the WWoHP, Universal needs a fast recipe for Butterbeer that doesn't take a hour long to make. More like how fast Orlando United's recipe took to make!

I have tryed the Orlando United recipe and it was awesome! ClickOrlando no. I reason why I know its not the real Butterbeer recipe is because it was copyed from another site (Huffington Post). Also, Butterbeer doesn't have dairy products in it (Butter!).

Reading the books, I always got the impression that butterbeer was alcoholic. Can anyone confirm/deny that?

In the Half-Blood Prince movie, they certainly seem to be getting drunk.

From the Harry Potter Wiki:
Butterbeer - Harry Potter Wiki - Harry Potter and the Deathly HallowsIt had a very slight alcohol content, which could get house-elves fully drunk,[2] but seemed to have a less pronounced effect on humans.[3][4] In 1996, Harry Potter wondered what Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger might do at Professor Horace Slughorn's Christmas Party "under the influence of Butterbeer,"[3] indicating that it could lower inhibitions. Winky, a house-elf, took to getting drunk on Butterbeer after losing her job with the Crouch family[2] — an addiction from which she never fully recovered.[5]
^ Weird that Butterbeer does that to Wizards!Anyway, I recomend you guys try the Orlando United Butterbeer. It's is awesome!
