I think, I think this time it is going to work |

An experiment of incredible odds is currently
taking place at Islands of Adventure. Dr. Bruce Banner is attempting to
destroy the Incredible Hulk, who lives within his own body, without
killing himself. Dr. Banner hopes to reverse the process by exposing his
body to dangerous gamma rays. To accomplish this, he constructs a
gamma ray tube along with a vehicle to pass within the tube. All he can do
now is hope everything goes according to plan. |
|
Warning, warning |
|
After checking and rechecking his calculations, Dr. Banner
decides that the time has come. While in the gamma ray tube, something
goes terribly wrong. A malfunction somewhere in the process causes
the test vehicle to suddenly launch forward, at a high speed, out of
the gamma ray tube. Your ride on the Incredible Hulk Coaster has begun.

Unleash the Fury |

The green giant that is the Incredible Hulk
rises one hundred-ten feet above the Central Florida landscape. The
one element that sets this ride apart from any other in the world is
the pitch wheel launch system. Instead of climbing a lift hill and
then allowing gravity to create velocity, the Incredible Hulk
launches riders at forty miles per hour out of the gamma ray
tube. This is accomplished by a unique invention created by
Universal which consists of a series of aircraft tires positioned in
pairs in the middle of the roller coaster track. The pairs of wheels
spin at different velocities throughout the tunnel (The velocity
increases as the distance from the beginning increases). Once the
train is about half way through the tunnel, the train is launched at forty
miles per hour in two seconds. The train accelerates at one positive
g-force, pushing riders against the headrest.

The "splashdown" at the bottom of the zero gravity roll.
Immediately after the launch, the train enters a zero gravity roll
one hundred-ten feet above the ground. This element produces a
feeling of weightlessness for a split second. Following the first
inversion, the
third and fourth are close behind. After dropping one hundred-five
feet, the green train enters an enormous cobra roll (over one
hundred feet tall). After traveling through a mist filled tunnel, a
helix around the gamma ray tube follows. Next up is a corkscrew, the
fifth inversion, elevated above the ground. Quickly following is the
second, smaller vertical loop. This part of the ride is mostly
hidden from view and surprises the common rider. After two helices,
the train travels through the mid course brake into the second
corkscrew and final inversion. Finally after a turnaround, the train
enters a final helix before hitting the brakes. Be sure to smile for
the picture taken during this portion of the ride. |

Marvel Super Hero Island is one of two
islands adjacent to the Port of Entry, thus one of the islands hit
first by most guests. In turn this creates long lines for Hulk from
the get go. However, if you can beat most of the crowd by arriving
at opening, you can ensure yourself at least one walk-on or a front
seat ride.
Universal Express
The Incredible Hulk Coaster is an Universal Express attraction.
All regular park guests can get one free Express pass every couple
hours. The ticket center is located in the middle of the pathway to
the Storm Force Accelatron.
Where to Sit
The front seat on the Incredible Hulk offers wonderful visuals of
both the park and the ride. Looking straight out of the launch
tunnel is a very memorable moment. The back seat should also not be
missed as it provides added airtime, but may be hard to get with the stacking of trains. |
